As two creatives awaiting the start of a busy spring wedding season, Meagan Fisher of M.Fisher Imagery and I were dying to do something entirely for fun.  After receiving a copy of The Flower Recipe from my sister for Christmas, I’ve spent lots of time flipping through those pages and daydreaming about flowers and beautiful photographs.  A quick trip to Import Flowers was just what we needed after a rough week at our 9-5, so we grabbed the buckets and headed to my happy place.  We will call this “Bloom Bash”.  1 floral designer + 1 photographer + wedding offseason = flower photoshoot, of course!

With only an hour to shop and so many beautiful flowers, we decided to divide and conquer.  Meagan was going to pick enough flowers for one creation and I was going to select others for an entirely different creation.  I love teaching others about flowers.  I love sharing with them the limited knowledge I have or the new tricks I learn and it was so fun to walk Meagan through the creative process.  I encouraged her to select an inspiration flower and build out from there.  Her inspiration: dark pink peonies with pink-tipped tulips!  With the addition of ginster, lisianthus and blackberries, I built her arrangement.  This is the tale of her beautiful blooms…

After gathering my supplies and choosing a milkglass container for her pink and white blooms, I prepped the vessel with a pin frog and a bit of coated chicken wire.   The pin frog keeps the larger blooms grounded while the chicken wire kept the wispy deflexus and nandina greens in place.

After adding my greens, I decided to dive right in with those spectacular peonies!  (I love how the color she chose is reflective of her branding color!) One of the blooms was fully open and dying to be shown off, so I made it a focal flower, adding some of the other blooms to create movement from the bottom left to the top right corner.  The hyacinth smelled incredible and I was excited about the texture they added.  Tulips, blackberries, ginster and lisianthus were added and in classic Emily-fashion, I took nearly everything out, rearranged and added until I thought it was perfect.

These are some of my favorite photos that Meagan took.  Me in my Team Flower apron and my hands dirty, covered in flower guts and creating.

“So, thanks for the photos/how-to Em. That was really swell. But, you mentioned ‘giveway?’.  Ah, yes!  A giveway!  So after playing in flowers on this beautiful Saturday, Meagan worked her magic and edited the images … I did a happy dance when they reached my inbox a few days later.  The images she captured of her arrangement created from her inspiration flowers and my arrangement created from mine (I’ll show ya those later) were INCREDIBLE!  What better way to share them than with blog posts?  And pins.  And shares.  And likes.  We want to encourage everyone to be creative with flowers or with photos. Simply for fun.  To share your talent and to showcase beautiful creations.  So, we decided to host a giveway!
