I think everyone is looking forward to Summer. Since winter seemed to last FOREVER, these sunshine-filled days can’t come soon enough. To help get you guys in the spirit, I’m going to share Carla and Mitchell’s Tennessee summer picnic-inspired wedding!
Tennessee Summer Picnic-Inspired Wedding
Several years ago when Carla brought her inspiration to me, I was blown away with its whimsical uniqueness. With red gingham check and wildflowers, she had to incorporate lemons into her decor, as ‘Lemons’ was to be her new last name! So “Lemonade Summer Picnic” was the theme! After pulling some images from Pinterest, we nailed down her mood board and the fun began! (Ignore my old logo…I’m WAY behind in blogging!)
She and Mitchell had chosen Sam Davis Home after she fell in love with the open grove of trees and old white barn. As an added bonus, the venue also has picnic tables available for those that rent the space!
We started with a red and yellow color palette and infused wildflowers, gingham check and vintage details to the decor. Carla and her mother are DIY Divas. Together, they created so many of the unique details for the day, including the monogrammed/appliqued tea towels, the chicken wire photo hanger, the faux flower wreaths on the barn doors and the lemonade stand!
Carla wanted bright wildflowers for her centerpieces. She collected tin cans and printed off vintage-inspired labels to give them a ‘farmer’s market’ feel. I ordered lots of whimsical wildflowers but also some beautiful garden roses and ranunculus to balance the two. Kale and protea added fun texture to the mix and Carla added market baskets filled with whole lemons and lemon drop guest favors.
